Stand By Me Film

A super awesome coming of age movie directed by Rob Reiner and released in 1986. The events of the film are based on Stephen King's novel: The Body. The movie tells the story of a group of boys wandering in the American countryside looking for the body of a missing kid. One of the protagonists Gordie Lachance recalls the memories of his childhood when he was ina  journey with his friends looking for the missing body of a kid near his home town of Rock Castle in Oregon. Gordie feels rejected by his dad after the death of his brother who happened to be a good football player in his town.

Gordie's friends are the type of steriotyped boys according to their rocky terrain based environment of missed up families with social problems such as crime. The best example of that is portrayed in the figure of his best friend Chris Chambers along with Vern Tessio who is often a target of bullying.  Finding the body of Ray Brower took the boys a great adventure full of challenge and risk. A group of older teenage boys were following the boys and annoying them. The younger ones felt they have been shwon moquery and disrespect and even endangered because their act made the teen boys feel jealous.

After setting out for ther journey, the protagonists faced the threat of Milo Pressman and his big dog and after that they even were about to be run over by a passing train along the narrow old train bridge. Their trip continued with the swamp full of leeches which caused them a lot of trouble when removing them from their bodies. Many critics appreciated the acting and interaction between the leads of the movie and noted the film's successful adaption of the Stephen King's book. Many also commented on how the film managed to play to the viewers' pathos but also include humor, a truthful recreation of the early teenage years. Stephen King was very impressed with the finished result, and indicated, on the special features of the 25th anniversary Blu-ray set, that this was the first successful translation to film of any of his works. The film was a box office success, earning almost 7 times its budget.
